Lubomír Metnar is a Czech politician who has been the Minister of Defense of the Czech Republic since June 2018. Mr Metnar graduated from the Post-Secondary Police School of the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic and later studied at the University of Ostrava, specialising in Economics, Commerce and Services. From 1988 to 2011, he worked as a police officer, where he held the following positions – Head of the Unit of Violence, Department of Common Crimes, Self-Governing Regional Police Directorate, Moravian-Silesian Self-Governing Region.

Since 2011, he has been the Security Manager at VITKOVICE, PLC. His political career began in July 2013 when he became Vice-Minister of the Interior in charge of internal security. He continued his political career in the following years Specifically, in the period from December 2017 to July 2018, he held the office of the Minister of the Interior.
