Laurynas Kasčiūnas

Dr. Laurynas Kasčiūnas has been elected to the Seimas (the Parliament) of Lithuania for the second term in a row since 2016. Since 2020 he serves as a Chair of the Committee on National Security and Defence. Since 2011 he has been a Member of Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats and is currently the Vice-Chair of the party, which is the biggest political group in the three-party ruling coalition. He is also a Member of the Seimas delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and rapporteur in the First Political Committee of the OSCE PA.
Upon receiving his PhD in the Institute of International Relations and Political Science of Vilnius University, from 2012 to 2016 Laurynas was the Director of the think tank in Vilnius – Eastern Europe Studies Centre. In addition to his role in national politics, he is active in public engagement by fostering national awareness and Christian values and is also a member of the Young Christian Democrats of Lithuania and the Ronald Reagan Center for Freedom and Democracy (CFD).
